IKEA recently opened a Fifth Avenue location in the heart of Midtown

Ikea fanatics, rejoice! The Swedish furniture giant announced plans to set up shop in the heart of Manhattan’s prestigious Fifth Avenue. This exciting development will see Ikea become a key tenant in a brand new office tower rising at 570 Fifth Avenue, between West 46th and 47th Streets.

The new Ikea will sprawl across a whopping 80,000 square feet spread over two levels, offering ample space for you to explore their home furnishing haven. “This latest investment marks a new chapter for Ikea in the US,” Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer of Ikea U.S., enthusiastically shared in a statement. “We’re thrilled to bring Ikea closer to New Yorkers, making it easier than ever to furnish their dream homes.”

This expansion aligns with Ikea’s global strategy of establishing a presence in bustling city centers. Ikea has already set up shop in vibrant metropolises like Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, and London, and New York City is next on their list.

While the office tower is slated for completion in 2028, Ikea is keeping the exact opening date of their shiny new store under wraps for now. New Yorkers eager to snag their dream Billy bookcases will have to wait a bit longer for the official unveiling.
